If you have always been interested in lettering, here's your chance to learn the basics of lettering. Grab your favorite pen and paper and let's go! Ever wondered how those thick and thin lines are achieved? Typically, thin lines are the upstrokes where you apply light pressure. Thick lines are downstrokes where you apply heavy pressure. In this tutorial, we will show you how to fake it till you make it ;). We figured since not everyone has a brush pen, why not start with a regular pen and apply those basic strokes to your regular writing. Just remember, upstrokes=thin lines; downstrokes=thick lines.
basically thicken up the lines where you would normally apply your downstrokes. You also have control over how thick you want the lines to be.
Let's practice the letter a. For this tutorial we will be practicing the lower case alphabets. We have provided practice worksheets for you to print out at home for guidance and practice. You can see the basic placement of thick and thin lines.
